    Dear Dr Poddar & Partners

I am writing to you following our recent Community Council meeting to communicate the universal dismay in the village and surrounding area at the proposal to cease the prescription service via the Walnut Tree Stores and Post Office.

We are aware that our County Councillor Jackie Charlton, who attended our meeting, has already contacted the Practice to seek to arrange a meeting about this, and we support and join that request.

The service has run successfully for many years and its cessation will cause significant difficulties for many who use it, and inconvenience for all who do. We are also concerned that transfer of the service to collection from the Practice may adversely affect the dispensary.

In this context the brief note sent out initially last month announcing that the service will be stopped from the beginning of next month was without any form of consultation and did not explain the reason for the decision.

    Therefore we ask the following:

That a full explanation of the reasons be given, including of course any changes in related circumstances or regulation.

That proper consideration be given to alternative methods or updated requirements to maintain prescription availability in the village. Both Walnut Tree Stores and the Council will willingly look at any changes necessary.

That the present service is continued to allow time for any necessary changes to be implemented to maintain the service in the long term.

This is a highly regarded and well used service. We very much hope we can find a solution which allows it to continue.

We look forward to hearing from you in anticipation that a meeting to review this matter can be arranged speedily with the attendance of our County Councillor and representatives of Llangynidr Community Council.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mark Brian

    Chair of Llangynidr Community Council
